But does Academized keep its promises? And should you rely on it in your time of need? We walked a mile in the customer’s shoes to answer these two questions. That is, we ordered a five-page college essay on the role of neurotransmitters in mood regulation for a freshman psychology class.

Beyond that, we also spent time reading the platform’s terms and conditions and analyzing customer reviews. Keep reading to see what we found out during our Academized reviewing process!

Overall, Academized didn’t impress us with its paper quality or even meet some of our basic expectations regarding the ordering process. For one, the platform doesn’t allow you to select your helpers; they’re assigned to orders automatically.

On top of that, the paper quality isn’t something to write home about. Our essay had some spelling errors and a factual mistake. Our helper also dragged their feet on introducing our revisions, which wasn’t great, either.

Then, Academized used some bizarre pricing tactics that we were not fans of. Those include progressive rates based on the year of college students' studies (we haven’t seen a service daring that before) and the lowest rates applied to orders with a 14-day deadline. Never mind fees for Premium/TOP 10 writers and Advanced/Premium customer service.

That’s not to say Academized is an awful service altogether. Its customer service is responsive and easily accessible, which is a plus. The ordering process is also intuitive, albeit at the cost of giving you the final say in choosing the writer. And, of course, Academized has a range: you can find a helper for virtually any need among 500+ writers on this platform.

Our Academized essay didn’t exactly live up to our expectations (which, we must admit, were influenced by a steep price). Although our helper, identifiable only by an ID number, had 14 days to work on our five-pager, the paper we received was somewhat… underbaked.

While the APA formatting was impeccably executed, that couldn’t compensate for the lack of some basic facts in the essay. Our helper failed to mention one neurotransmitter that plays a role in mood regulation (norepinephrine). They also omitted the impact of neurotransmitter imbalances on the development of several mental health disorders.

On top of that, the essay had several spelling errors that could’ve been easily fixed by a proofreading tool like Grammarly. And, to make matters worse, our writer made a mistake when listing the functions of one neurotransmitter.

On the other hand, the essay was structured well, with the number of sources matching our request. The citations themselves were chosen well, so we had no notes there. The writer also clearly considered the grading rubric while working on the essay.

All in all, the essay could get a C+ or a B-, but definitely not an A.

Let’s start with the good news: you can reach Academized customer service using various methods. There’s a 24/7 live chat, the golden standard among academic help platforms. You can also call Academized customer service or drop a line via email.

The customer support phone number is in the U.S., so if you reside outside the U.S., phone support may not be suitable for you.

But should you expect Academized’s customer support to help you out? To find out, we decided to test its responsiveness via live chat at different times of the day. In all three cases – at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 11 p.m.–we connected with an Academized rep in under 5 minutes, which is impressive.

As for the quality of customer support, it was neither great nor terrible. While Academized reps did answer our questions on payment methods and available writers, some responses lacked detail and felt rushed. Certain responses also contained typos.

All in all, we didn’t feel particularly catered to when we contacted customer support. On one occasion, we were abruptly disconnected; we don’t know if it was deliberate or due to a connectivity issue.

Academized offers access to 500+ experts across 70+ disciplines and multiple assignment types. However, you can’t select who will work on your order: writers are automatically assigned to new orders.

All helpers are presented as ID numbers; you’ll find no names. Although writer profiles contain reviews, ratings, and the writer’s area of expertise, they lack detail. The bio is just a paragraph long, with no information on their academic credentials.

In writing our review for Academized, we also realized that the service charges you extra for assigning so-called Premium or TOP 10 writers to your order. Getting a Premium expert would inflate the cost by 25% and a TOP 10 one – by 30%.

Using their ID, you can also hire a specific expert for your Academized writing order. But this Preferred Writer feature would add another 10% to your order cost.

Academized is far from the most expensive platform we’ve come across, but its prices may still bite. Here’s a short Academized prices review based on the service provided:

Academized’s pricing strategy somewhat surprised us; however, if you're a college student, the service charges different rates based on your year of studies. The difference can be significant. A five-page essay would cost a senior almost $20 more than a freshman ($80.71 vs $63.71, respectively).

It’s also worth noting that you can benefit from the lowest rates only if you choose a 14-day deadline.

The platform promises no hidden fees in its pricing, with multiple complementary services included in the order total. Those include the title page, formatting, outline, bibliography, and revisions.

However, there are some surprise fees you should bear in mind. For one, hiring a UK writer will add an extra 10% to your order:

You can also choose to pay extra for advanced or premium customer service. Add that to the plagiarism report, which costs a whopping $29.99, and editor proofreading, which costs an extra $2.55 a page, and we can’t say Academized lives up to its “transparent pricing” promise.

In short, yes. What’s more, Academized doesn’t charge you extra for revisions if you submit your request within 14 days of receiving the order. Your instructions should also align with the initial requirements – a standard rule in revision policies. So far, so good.

But is Academized a good service when it comes to refining orders? We decided to see it ourselves since our order fell somewhat short of our expectations. We submitted our request via the feedback form, asking to rectify several spelling and factual mistakes in the text.

We hit Send, and… nothing happened for a day. At some point, we gave up hope the edits would be made altogether, but then we received a message confirming the revised essay was ready. While we had no notes on the edits, their introduction was somewhat long, in our experience. We also received no explanation for why the helper needed so much time to comply with basic requests.

Like many platforms, Academized allows you to choose a deadline from a dropdown menu with several predefined options. Those range from six hours to 14 days. So, if you need your paper in, say, 12 days, you’ll have to select the next best option—10 days—and pay for it accordingly.

This approach to deadline selection lacks flexibility. We’d prefer a platform that gives us complete reign over when we want our order to be ready—within the minimum deadline restrictions, of course.

As for our order, it arrived a bit before our deadline. Customer reviews on Academized also didn’t mention any missed deadlines. So, at least in this regard, Academized can be dependable.

Academized promises to deliver “100% unique” papers when you place an order. But, as you may already know, a paper with a 0% plagiarism rate is as real as a unicorn. Some common phrase always gets flagged as plagiarism, even when you’ve written the whole paper yourself.

So, the question should be, Is Academized cheating? To find out where it stands on plagiarism, we decided to run our own Academized plagiarism check on the essay. (For the record, we believe charging $29.99 for the originality report is an outrage.)

One tool returned a 9% plagiarism rate, another one – 11%. While it’s not the end of the world, remember that it’s better not to rely on Academized’s internal plagiarism checks.

Now, what about AI involvement? In this regard, Academized does stick to its promise. Our essay was deemed “likely to be written by a human.”

All in all, Academized isn’t a terrible service – but you can do better. It simply falls short of offering great value for its steep price tag.

Plus, there are too many "but's" when you turn to Academized. Yes, revisions are free – but get ready to wait over a day for the helper to get to them. Yes, you can get a plagiarism report – but it’ll cost you an extra $29.99.
