Initial Thoughts on MySuperGeek
Geeks and nerds are your average go-to people when you need help with homework, especially with writing assignments. And that’s what MySuperGeek is offering to their customers — essays written by geeks for just $9.99 per hour. Yet, MySuperGeek reviews on various sites suggest that geeks may not be that good at providing help.
When it comes to online essay writing services with bad reviews, things often become obvious only after you receive the ordered paper.
So, let’s have a more detailed look at this academic help website to make a definitive conclusion on whether you should use it or not.
Our Thoughts on MySuperGeek
My Super Geek… sounds like the title of some run-of-the-mill high school or college rom-com from the late 1990s or early 2000s. The service that we are looking at has nothing to do with romance, but it surely has to do something with high school or college.
The site does look attractive and shows the picture of you desperately needing homework help. As we’ve all been there at a certain point in our lives, we must admit that the picture looks quite convincing. However, the attractiveness of the site stops being its strong point, as there are not many places where you can go from the main page.
You can check customers’ testimonials (even video ones; we’ll get to them in a bit), learn that the service offers to help you manage homework and meet deadlines, and check out the payment methods. That’s basically it.
The lack of information on the site confused us a bit but ultimately made us even more interested in investigating the service.
MySuperGeek Analysis
Based on the oldest comments on review aggregators, presumably, the service started working somewhere in the mid-2010s.
The site displays several extremely positive testimonials. They contain all the traditional information about how MySuperGeek paper writing provided users with an opportunity to spend valuable time with their family, focus on their work, etc.
There are three video testimonials. Testimonials from Felicia and Tara were added two months ago, while the one from Danica was added less than two weeks ago (at the time of writing).
To check out how truthful Tara’s words that MySuperGeek is a platform like no other were, we’ve placed our order. We ordered quite a simple essay on how the score impacts the viewers of the movie. After bargaining with several writers, or “geeks,” as they are called on the site, over the price, we finally settled on a price of $32 per page. The results were somewhat discouraging, though — more on that further.
Communicating With MySuperGeek Support Team
Because of the lack of information, even on writers, we’ve decided to reach out to the customer support service. There are two options to communicate with the support team: via email or via live chat. It seems that MySuperGeek is aware of the lack of information on its website; that’s why the live chat pop-up follows you wherever you go. Jason replied within a minute.
We told Jason that we were hesitant to order a paper because of the reviews that beg the question, “Is My Super Geek legit,” and asked him to comment on that.
Jason told us that the service has been on the market for eight years (which makes our guess about the service’s launch correct) and that most customers are satisfied. He explained the negative review by claiming that “there might be others that was not satisfied with the order because sometimes they provide lack of information.” Â
So, the support team is responsive and fast, but (similar to the situation described in the EssayShark review) the representative’s command of English could’ve been better.
What Can Be Said About MySuperGeek Writers?
You know, a lot of online essay services (like this one we covered in MyAdmissionsEssay reviews) provide information on their top writers on their websites. So, you can see what the service has in store before placing the order.Â
Here, you won’t find “Our Writers” and even “Our Geeks” sections (we’ve encountered such a situation when researching for WritePaperForMe reviews, though). If you want to learn anything about MySuperGeek writers, you have to register.
When filling up the order form, make sure that you put as many details as you can in the description. Otherwise, the message will pop up notifying you that “Your task isn’t attracting experts.”
So, as soon as you place the order, the experts start offering their bids. Alternatively, you can settle on a writer that the system picks up based on your essay’s subject. The per-hour rate of the recommended authors is higher than $9.99.
Initially, there were no offers that were even close to our budget. There’s Grace, a chatbot that helps you. But even with its help, we couldn’t find anyone to work for at least $15 per hour. The cheapest author that the bot recommended, “Tutor Extra,” had a $32-per-hour rate. That’s the one we opted for.
MySuperGeek Prices, Discounts, and Refund Policy
The starting price, as claimed by the website, is $9.99 per hour, which equals $9.99 per page. But, as it’s a starting price, you’re not sure what you’re going to pay in the end.
When you’re placing an order, you can see the minimum and maximum bids, which vary depending on the subject of your essay. However, only the maximum bid changes when you opt for this or that subject. The minimum bid remains the same, and it’s $16.
The service doesn’t offer any discount, so we had to pay the full price to base this MySuperGeek review on a real customer experience. But your friends can have 10% off their first order if you decide to participate in the referral program. Unlike other services that offer a commission on every order that your friends have paid for, MySuperGeek offers one-time payment for bringing your friends. For each friend, you can get $25.
Finally, there’s a refund policy mentioned in Terms & Conditions. To get your money back, you need to request a refund within 72 hours of getting the order, as you release funds not after the completion of your paper but upon hiring a “geek.”
MySuperGeek Revision Policy
You won’t find a lot of My Super Geek reviews regarding revision policy. The Terms & Conditions page briefly mentions revisions in the description of the refund policy. Basically, it states, “If the revision didn’t end in the desired product, you’re entitled to a refund.” In other words, there are no strict revision rules.
Now, let’s discuss the paper that we’ve got. On the surface level, it was alright. It was an essay on how the music score impacts the viewers of the film. It even mentioned the movies listed in our instructions as examples. But the text didn’t really tie into the examples, and its structure looked illogical, so we asked for edits.
“Tutor Extra” revised the paper. It was readable. The examples no longer looked out of place. Basically, after the revision, we got more or less the paper that we originally requested. Luckily, we didn’t have to pay extra for those edits.
MySuperGeek Deadlines
The minimum deadline that you can select for your order is three hours. The maximum deadline doesn’t have any limits. You can set the deadline to two or even three months if you need to. The default deadline for any task is ten days.
And another great thing is that the deadline doesn’t affect the price. The initial bidding price is still $16, but the authors will offer their own bids, which are going to be in the $30-$40 range.
We really cannot complain about the deadlines. We wanted our paper within five hours, and we got it within five hours. But when it comes to essay writing, what you get is even more important than whether you get it on time. And we were only satisfied with the quality of the paper on the second try.
Problems With MySuperGeek Plagiarism
The oldest one-star MySuperGeek review on SiteJabber contains a complaint about plagiarism. When we ran our paper through several plagiarism checkers, we saw 15% of plagiarized content. The checkers mostly highlighted generic phrases, but several passages should’ve been rewritten or properly cited.
The essay contained sentences and passages from essays that you can find on the first page of search results if you google “the music’s impact on the movie viewer essay.” So, we passed this information to the writer as well.
The revised version of the paper faired better. Only 7% of plagiarized content was detected. The paper was not 100% unique. However, it is worth mentioning that zero plagiarism is not guaranteed anywhere on MySuperGeek’s website. And, given the paper’s topic, we can assume it’s pretty difficult to come up with a fully unique piece.
Summing Up the Main Benefits and Downsides of MySuperGeek
The platform is convenient to use, the support team is responsive, and you can expect to get your order before the deadline. Yet, we have noticed issues with handling our order and had to ask for a revision.
So, before deciding to try this service, consider all the pros and cons outlined below.
