EssayEdge Overview

Unlock the Best Writing Services for Your Needs

EssayEdge has a dubious rating of 3.1 stars based on 67+ online reviews, indicating that most customers are not very satisfied with their purchases overall. The absolute majority of negative EssayEdge reviews most often mention the poor quality of editing services for the extremely high price. EssayEdge is ranked 69th among academic writing sites.

However, we still managed to find a lot of positive reviews on the Internet (though even the positive ones described the platform's quality as "average").

To get a clearer picture in this jumble of reviews, we decided to check out EssayEdge for ourselves. Just for the occasion, we had a 5-page literature essay from one of our previous reviews lying around, so we used it to test the platform. The paper was far from perfect ‒ it really needed some editing.

Our team also explored other aspects of the service in detail. Besides the quality of editing services, we'll cover the interface, user experience, pricing, and lots of other stuff here. So, keep reading to discover everything we found out about EssayEdge.

Paperial: Our Verdict

Our Opinion on EssayEdge

Unlock the Best Writing Services for Your Needs

EssayEdge is a promising concept, but its execution is a bit disappointing. The biggest issue for us (and for typical students, too) is the cost. Considering the fact it's just text editing, not even crafting anything from scratch, the prices should be more reasonable.

Perhaps the prices are so high because the platform claims to only hire Yale graduates, but ultimately, people are more concerned with actual results than the editor's alma mater. But the quality of the proofreading did not meet our expectations either.

We did like some of the aspects of the platform, like the idea of the Premier package where you learn to structure your papers or brainstorming sessions with an expert (that's a great idea if implemented correctly). But definitely not for that price.

Pricing is not the only issue, though. While the website, its design, and all that stuff are completely fine, we think that the platform still has plenty of room to improve in terms of quality. If you want a more detailed explanation of why we think so, continue reading our EssayEdge review, and you'll see.

What Is EssayEdge?

Unlock the Best Writing Services for Your Needs

EssayEdge is a service that specializes in academic editing and essay coaching. Yes, you read that right ‒ the platform focuses on proofreading and editing rather than essay writing, and it's clearly stated right on the homepage.

EssayEdge Reviews

The other aspect of EssayEdge that comes much closer to essay writing is what they call "essay coaching." Basically, an assigned expert just guides you on what and how to write and then proofreads everything. You don't often come across platforms focused solely on editing, writing consultations, or brainstorming, so naturally, our team was thrilled about it.

At first glance, the platform seems solid. The website looks awesome: it's simple and full of useful information. However, something still felt off, and we couldn't quite put our finger on what it was.

The reviews, again, were mixed, so the only way to answer the question "Is EssayEdge reliable?" that we knew was experiencing it firsthand. So, we did just that and handed over one of the worst essays on Oscar Wilde's "An Ideal Husband" to EssayEdge experts to see if they could fix this seemingly hopeless paper.

How Good Is the Customer Support?

Unlock the Best Writing Services for Your Needs

Though the way the platform works is clearly explained on the website, we started our journey by contacting customer service. Partly, we did this because a typical EssayEdge com review rarely mentions the experience of interacting with customer support, but the main reason was to clarify some minor things and the service's refund policy.

The platform advertises customer support operating 24/7. There are three ways you can contact them: through live chat, email, and phone calls. However, none of these methods proved effective. The live chat stayed dead for hours, and though we left our email as the chatbot suggested, we got no reply or notification afterward.

EssayEdge Reviews

When we tried to reach out by phone, no one answered our calls either. But just when we were about to write off our experience with the support service (or rather the lack thereof) as disappointing, we finally got a reply on live chat 22 hours later.

And it was weird. All the responses were kind of vague, sometimes even unrelated to our questions. We found ourselves asking the support agent multiple times to clarify what exactly they meant.

Even though we eventually got some information, chat operators didn't go into great detail on anything. It felt strange, as if the team was holding something back.

Who Are EssayEdge Editors?

Unlock the Best Writing Services for Your Needs

The platform claims to hire editors who are native English speakers and have graduated from Ivy League colleges. But who are EssayEdge writers, actually?

EssayEdge Reviews

The website has a dedicated page where you can view the profiles of all the editors, showcasing their photos, educational backgrounds, and experiences. There's a relatively small pool of experts, and you can learn more about each by clicking on their profiles.

EssayEdge Reviews

However, there's no way to verify their credentials since their full names aren't provided. So, it's impossible to know for sure if they graduated from the mentioned universities or if all those people are even real.

While the need for privacy is understandable, we believe any claims should ideally be backed up by something. Without a way to verify them, boasting about editors from top places like Harvard just seems like a way to boost the platform's image using the fame of these schools.

Some of the profile descriptions look like they're straight out of an action movie script. Just look at the picture below and think about it: why would someone with this kind of background work as a regular editor, working on resumes and college applications? And seriously, if she really had interviewed presidents and covered guerrilla wars, she must be pretty well-known already, right?

Pricing and Promos

Unlock the Best Writing Services for Your Needs

Now, this is what might really turn you off from using EssayEdge ‒ prices here are absolutely ridiculous.

The platform offers 4 different packages depending on your needs: Proofreading, Standard, All In One, and Premier, with prices starting from $104, $179, $275, and $447, respectively. You also will have to pay an extra $69 if you need your paper edited in under 24 hours or $139 (!) if you choose the All In One package.

EssayEdge Reviews

And those are the prices for small orders (up to 600 words). With a Premier package for a 2400-word paper, you're looking at a whopping $624!

To be fair, it's not just the price of proofreading and editing; it also includes a 30-minute "brainstorming session." How do you like that? Are you ready to pay more than half a grand for a few instructions on writing your paper and a single proofread after you've done all the writing yourself?

EssayEdge Reviews

We don't understand why so few EssayEdge com review mention this because paying $600+ for a phone consultation and "extra suggestions on content" to "highlight its strengths and weaknesses" is crazy.

At least they offer some discounts, and you can get 15% off your first order just by leaving your email. But even those 15% won't make a big difference for large orders.

Revisions and Refund Policy

Unlock the Best Writing Services for Your Needs

The website doesn't mention anything about revisions or refunds. Since the service focuses solely on editing, we can agree that revisions may be kind of unnecessary ‒ it's essentially what they're doing in general. However, the website doesn't provide any information on what to do if you're not happy with the edited text.

Nevertheless, based on what the chat operator told us, the platform does have a return policy. When we asked how refunds are made, the support agent replied, "Every case is unique." So, we have no idea how exactly their team checks your request and reviews the completed document.

Considering the high cost of EssayEdge, a clear refund policy is something that they should've posted on their website a long time ago. It's not about mistrust; it's rather about providing clients with safety and confidence when using your service. And having to pull bits of information about refunds from support agents feels kind of weird.

How Quickly Can EssayEdge Edit Your Paper?

Unlock the Best Writing Services for Your Needs

The site offers very limited deadline options. The standard editing time for one document is 48 hours. If you go with the All In One package, which covers editing three documents, you'll have to wait for 7 days. And if you choose the most expensive Premier package, you'll get the final and edited paper in two weeks.

EssayEdge Reviews

You can speed up the process by paying an extra $70 and get your paper edited in 24 hours (Proofreading and Standard packages) or 72 hours (All In One). Even editing a short 600-word essay takes two full days. Let's be honest: you could potentially write the paper from scratch and edit it yourself by that time.

For this EssayEdge review, as we said, we went with the Standard package, and it actually took our expert about 48 hours to refine the paper. Of course, our paper wasn't that short, but should correcting grammatical errors and typos really take so much time?

Editing Quality

Unlock the Best Writing Services for Your Needs

When we said that our paper was "hopeless," we meant that ‒ it was bad in all regards, from the whole structure to grammar and syntax. Five pages, ~1500 words ‒ there was plenty of material to work with.

Since we already had the text, we decided to go with the cheapest Proofreading package and, with a heavy heart, paid $194 for it. It would be great, of course, to try the Premium package, but, sadly, it would really stretch our team's budget. So, how it went?

First of all, our paper still had typos and grammar errors. There were few of them, but it's not an excuse. We paid almost $200 specifically to fix them all! Secondly, we didn't get any constructive suggestions from our expert as promised. Maybe they just thought our paper was good enough structurally, so it didn't need any tweaks, but it certainly did.

A lot of people seem to choose more advanced plans, which might explain why many EssayEdge reviews aren't that focused on editing quality. Most praise the positive expert interactions, but as our experience shows, good communication doesn't necessarily mean high-quality service.

Pros and Cons

Unlock the Best Writing Services for Your Needs

Considering the overall mixed EssayEdge rating, we began this review with low expectations for the platform. For the most part, customer complaints proved to be accurate. The biggest disappointment and shock was pricing ‒ this is by far the most expensive service our team has reviewed in years. And now, let's break down the specific advantages and disadvantages.

Pros:
  • Well-designed and appealing website. We also like the sections with blogs, guides, and even a podcast. ✅
  • Easy ordering process with detailed descriptions of each package. You know exactly what services are included in the price. ✅
Cons:
  • Ridiculously high prices. EssayEdge is definitely not your choice if you're a student on a budget. ❌
  • Generally poor editing quality. The expert we got wasn't very attentive and missed some errors. ❌
  • Limited deadline options. Two full days to edit a single document is way too long. ❌
  • Unclear refund policy; to be precise, a complete lack of information about it on the website. ❌
  • Customer support takes a long time to respond, even during daytime. ❌

Frequently Asked Questions

Is EssayEdge legit?

For those who wondered, "Can you call EssayEdge legit?" ‒ yes, we would say the service is legitimate. Though there is absolutely no legal info about the platform on its website, we still paid and received the promised service. We didn't like the quality, but that is quite another issue.

Is EssayEdge real or fake?

The platform is totally real, and you're actually getting a service by paying for it ‒ everything in that regard is clear. EssayEdge also partners with reputable payment systems like Visa and MasterCard, which don't cooperate with blatantly fake services.

Is EssayEdge cheap?

EssayEdge is not cheap at all, being one of the most expensive services on the market we've ever encountered. The cheapest option starts from $100, and the services you receive for the price clearly don't match the cost.

Is EssayEdge scam?

Our answer to the question "Does EssayEdge scam people?" is no, it doesn't. It's a legit editing service with a pool of experienced (at least they're claimed to be) editors. Apart from some issues with quality and slow customer support, the platform delivers its services.

Is EssayEdge fraud?

Even though laws differ from country to country, EssayEdge, much like any other paper writing or editing service, is in no way considered fraudulent. There's nothing wrong with seeking academic help, as many of our readers have known for a long time.

How reliable is EssayEdge?

We would say that the platform is reliable in terms of meeting deadlines. However, you might run into some issues with the quality of editing. Also, the refund policy is not clearly outlined; nevertheless, it exists.
