What Is TutorBin?
TutorBin has a rating of 3.6 stars based on 31 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with their purchases. Customers satisfied with TutorBin most frequently cite good customer service. TutorBin ranks 4th among tutoring platforms.
TutorBin is an academic help platform offering tutor assistance and essay writing services. That’s why visiting the website may confuse you: the platform seemingly can’t decide which services are core to its business.
When it comes to tutor help, TutorBin offers live sessions with experts and other online tutoring services. There’s also something called “video solutions,” but we couldn’t quite understand the output.
Most TutorBin reviews, however, focus on its academic writing services. Those include custom essays, lab reports, speeches, presentations, and research paper writing. As for the range of subjects, TutorBin seems to cover everything from law and music to civil engineering and physics.
While TutorBin claims to be trusted by 1.1 million customers, the number of TutorBin reviews online doesn’t match up with its supposed popularity. The platform’s Sitejabber page counted only 31 reviews, and its Trustpilot page had 199 reviews. For comparison, EssayPro, which also states it’s trusted by over a million students, has over 25,000 reviews on Sitejabber alone.
TutorBin: Our Findings
To determine whether TutorBin is a good value for a student’s money, we set out to see its experts in action. To that end, we ordered a 1375-word essay on the ethics of AI use in education for a supposed journalism class. We also researched the platform’s policies and existing customer reviews.
If we have one thing to say about TutorBin, it’s this: the first impression didn’t lie this time. When we visited the platform for the first time, we found it somewhat shady. We didn’t get what we expected throughout our customer journey at almost every step (which was disappointing after we enjoyed an intuitive interface when working on the WritePapers review).
We couldn’t find a clear pricing structure, we couldn’t select our expert, and we couldn’t even contact customer support on our terms.
The essay we received was, to put it mildly, subpar. If you head to TutorBin’s website, you’ll get a feeling its copy was written by an underpaid non-native speaker – and, well, expect the same from its “solutions” (i.e., papers). That’s not to mention the formatting was all over the place, with only half of the essay following the APA format we requested. The only silver lining is a decent uniqueness rate (87%).
Our Experience with TutorBin’s Services
When we first visited TutorBin’s website, we thought something was off about the platform. That uneasy feeling was caused by the weird phrasing all over the website; it just didn’t read like native speech. Instead, the website copy looked like something generated by a poorer version of ChatGPT.
However, we gave the service the benefit of the doubt and proceeded to look around. We couldn’t find the pricing on the website, which was another red flag. So, we created an account to place our order. First, we selected our educational level – college:
Then, we selected custom essay help:
The order form was quite minimalistic:
We thought the order form would consist of several pages, but this is what we saw after hitting
Continue:
We also started getting messages from customer support asking to share the deadline:
Overall, the ordering process was messy, to put it mildly. The essay we received for our TutorBin review was no better. Even though we uploaded the grading rubric together with our form, the essay’s formatting didn’t match the required APA format in half the cases. The content itself was shallow, at best, written in the same awkward way as the website copy.
TutorBin’s Customer Service: Unreachable?
Most of TutorBin’s ordering is taking place in the customer support chat. (We do not like this approach, but you may disagree.) Besides live chat, you can also reach out to customer service via email or by phone:
If you’re unfamiliar with the country code of TutorBin’s phone number, the +91 prefix indicates that TutorBin’s customer support resides in India. So, if you’re a U.S. student, calling that number can cost you a small fortune, depending on your plan.
We clicked on the Contact Support button in our account’s menu. But as soon as we entered our message (which concerned the price we should expect for our order), we saw this:
Ergo, we sent a message, only to get a response from a bot asking how it could assist us. That was confusing. So, we copied our message and sent it again. And… even the bot wouldn’t react to it this time. (We gave up on waiting after 15 minutes.) So much for the customer service.
That said, customer support was there for us after we (accidentally) published our order and asked about the deadline.
However, we never heard back when we tried to contact the TutorBin essay writer handling our order to request edits.
TutorBin’s Live Sessions: Worth It?
Once you log into your account on TutorBin.com, you can also connect with an expert for instant exam preparation or a live one-on-one session. This feature reminded us of our Preply review and Studocu review experiences.
We decided to try a one-on-one session to see how it works. After we clicked on the hard-to-find live session booking button in the bottom right corner, we were presented with another minimalistic form:
We selected the subject, typed in the topic of the discussion, and chose the time, date, and session duration. As with essay writing help, you can’t know how much the session will cost until you fill out the form. In our case, the half-hour live session would cost us $27.93:
You also can’t select your tutor for a live session – they will automatically be assigned to your order.
In our case, the live session left much to be desired, not unlike the essay we received. The tutor didn’t seem to invest in guiding us to the right answers ourselves; instead, he just listed all the answers to our topic without much in-depth explanation for each point on his list.
Is TutorBin Expensive? Pricing & Discount Overview
If you want to shop around before selecting a service with affordable prices, TutorBin isn’t going to help you gauge just how expensive its services are. There’s no dedicated pricing page, no order cost calculator (on the website overall or in your account), and no mention of the starting rates, even. And here’s what its FAQ page has to say about its pricing:
So, what do you do if you want to know how much your order will cost you? You’ll probably head to the order form and start filling it out. That’s what we did. And here’s the kicker: once you create your order, the page quite literally says that you’ll get your payment details in the chat!
This lack of transparency in pricing astonished us, frankly. But when it comes to discounts, TutorBin is a lot more open about the ways you could save a buck. It advertises its $20 reward for signing up in two separate places on its homepage alone, all while keeping its pricing a closely guarded secret.
TutorBin also has a referral program – you can access it in your account by clicking “Earn $1000”. The referral program is quite generous – too generous, in our opinion.
TutorBin Revisions: Unlimited but Not Working?
TutorBin promises you’ll get unlimited revisions for free. There’s a standard caveat, of course: you have to request them within 15 days. It’s a standard clause, so we can’t hold it against TutorBin.
On the other hand, most of the TutorBin reviews we unearthed didn’t mention whether those revisions were done promptly and according to the customer’s wishes. So, since we had more than a few APA formatting mishaps in our essay, we decided to contact our writer via live chat and ask them to be fixed.
We took our time to explain what exactly was wrong with the formatting and requested the fixes. And… we never heard back from the writer. Our essay remained unrevised, despite what TutorBin’s homepage would have you believe about its revision policy.
While looking into TutorBin’s revision policy, we also uncovered a discrepancy in the service’s messaging. You’re promised “lifetime access to your solutions on its homepage.” However, in one of its FAQs, TutorBin says you get access to your “solutions” only for three months:
TutorBin: Deadline Overview
To its credit, Tutor Bin doesn’t miss deadlines – at least, not in our experience. (We also couldn’t find reviews accusing the service of failing to meet a deadline.) However, remember that timely delivery doesn’t mean you get a bang for your buck.
As for the accepted timeframes, TutorBin is a wild west at first glance. You can’t find the minimum deadline anywhere on the website – we know, we’ve tried. TutorBin only promises that it won’t ever “cross the deadline” without giving a hint at your limitations in setting it:
This, of course, begs the question: How soon is it too soon for a TutorBin expert to complete an order? We tried posing this question in the customer support chat, but it remained unanswered, just like our pricing question.
Are There Any Alternatives to TutorBin?
If you’re after academic writing help, we’d advise you to consider alternatives to TutorBin seriously. We don’t believe you can get a bang for your buck on this platform, plain and simple. Here are the top three alternatives we’ve reviewed at NoCramming:
- EssayPro. It’s the service with the highest number of SiteJabber reviews we’ve ever come across. EssayPro also strikes a fine balance between affordability and high-quality papers, all combined with responsive customer support and a straightforward pricing structure.
- EssayService. This service is of great value for the money overall, but its personal approach to every order makes it stand out among competitors. On top of that, EssayService experts readily take on orders that don’t fall under predefined subject or formatting categories.
- EssayHub. This platform comes with a great selection of experts, making its pool diverse enough to meet any student’s need. Plus, EssayHub aces urgent orders like no other service.
TutorBin’s Pros & Cons at a Glance
Overall, TutorBin is hardly worth your attention if you expect the platform to treat you respectfully and be transparent about its services. Its essay quality is also nothing to write home about. The only pros we could find look pale compared to the massive drawbacks of the service.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is TutorBin legit?
We have no idea who could be behind TutorBin. Its terms and conditions and policies don’t explicitly state the name of the company or its legal address. The About Us page also doesn’t contain any clues. The only thing we can confidently say is that it’s based in India.
Would you say TutorBin is real or fake?
TutorBin appears to be a real service. After all, we did get our essay. That said, there are one too many red flags with this service, from the lack of pricing to the quality of website copy.
How much does TutorBin cost?
That’s a good question – but you won’t find out until after you create your order! The service doesn’t show its pricing anywhere on the website or in the customer account. You’ll receive the quote for your order in the customer support chat after you create your order.
Can I get in trouble for using TutorBin?
To its credit, TutorBin does live up to its “no plagiarism” promise. That said, the quality of writing leaves much to be desired – some AI writers can do a better job at writing essays than TutorBin experts. So, you probably won’t be able to rely on its output, anyway.
Is TutorBin safe to use?
We couldn’t find any evidence that TutorBin mishandles customer data – and it doesn’t outright scam you, either. That said, if your definition of safety involves getting an order that lives up to your expectations, TutorBin isn’t a safe choice for you.
What services does TutorBin offer?
TutorBin offers three key types of academic help services: homework and assignment help (answers to questions), exam prep help, and custom writing. You can also hire an expert for a live one-on-one tutoring session.
