So, we asked the virtual assistant about the overwhelming number of negative reviews. Did it reply? Not exactly. It provided us with some articles about incorrectly provided answers. We then decided to check out some of the chatbot's options. When you opt for the “refund request,” it states that refunds are unavailable. It doesn’t look that great, does it? But, okay, there’s a proper section to discuss it in detail. If you truly want to communicate with someone human, you must email them. And they are going to take their time to reply.

So, what subject can you expect assistance with paying for your Brainly subscription (you can find out how much the subscription is in the next section)? Not that much. You can get help with math, English, arts, computer science, social studies, Spanish, French, German, medicine, law, and other subjects.  But here’s one thing that got us a bit confused. Checking the Brainly.com reviews on the service’s website, some users claim that they learned and understood using the service rather than just finding the answer to their question.

Judging from the answers we’ve got from AI and human tutors, you won’t get much learning. Well, you will if you go googling and research the provided answer on your own. But, to our mind, that’s too much for a Brainly plus subscription. After all, what’s the point of paying a monthly subscription for something you can find on your own? But, we must be fair here; not all the answers the service gave us were incorrect. But the answer is just an answer. There’s no additional explanation if you need one. And there’s no option to communicate with any type of human or AI-powered tutor.

So, how much is Brainly cost, is it suitable for students tight on budget? The funniest thing about the service is that you won’t learn the price until you sign up. Go through the billing information, and you won’t find any information about the actual price. Go through the Terms & Conditions; you won’t find that information either. Ask the chatbot, and it will provide you with the information on how to log in to your account — very useful, isn’t it? Anyway, there are two types of subscriptions: monthly and yearly. The former will cost you $29 per month, the latter — $96.

Now, remember all the complaints about the service refusing to provide customers with a refund? It turns out that once the subscription starts, you can’t get it refunded. To avoid getting charged, you need to cancel the free trial within seven days. But, actually, you need to cancel it within six days, as the cancellation is accepted only when it is requested 24 hours before the subscription starts. And you can learn that by checking the billing section. Seems fraudulent, doesn’t it? However, if you check the service’s T&C and the billing section, you are warned that that’s how things will be.

So, what can be said about the overall quality of answers the Brainly platform provides? Not much, to be fair. Be it a human tutor or an AI-powered one, the answers will be mostly googled. In other words, if you know where to search for an answer and how to google your request properly, you can find the solution independently. We’ve read some comments online that 10% of answers are truly provided by the tutors based on what they know. But that’s not something that we’ve encountered. Returning to googling, some of the answers come across as something Google would have provided you with.

Science-related answers are generally good, but things are more complicated when it comes to arts. You can ask about the symbolism in this or that play, and the service will provide you with a short summary of it. And keep in mind that that’s the quality you’re getting under the condition that a Brainly refund is impossible to get. So, if math- and chemistry-related answers are the ones you’re interested in, Brainly can be useful. For answers in other subjects, such as arts and philosophy, it’s better to look elsewhere.

If there’s one thing you won’t find a complaint about in Brainly.com reviews, it is the speed of the answer. You don’t have to wait longer than a minute to get a reply to your question. However, that brings the humanity of human tutors into question. Moreover, the price for the speedy answers is way too high. Answers may be incorrect or have little to nothing to do with your initial question.  

Unfortunately, you are not greeted with the same speed regarding email communication, subscription cancellation or anything else. We emailed the service regarding the subscription cancellation and overwhelming negative comments. At the time of writing, it has been two days with no reply whatsoever. But we have a sneaking suspicion that we are going - if we ever are going to get a reply - to get the cancellation confirmation and nothing else.

To determine if there is an alternative to Brainly, we need to ask ourselves again: what is Brainly used for? It is used for finding answers to various academic subjects. Based on that, even Chegg seems way better. If you need a platform that provides academic assistance, you can check out CoursePivot, which provides homework, exam help, and a custom writing service. So, not only will you get answers to your questions, but you can also get help with your writing assistance, something Brainly won’t provide you with.

However, learning how to research information independently will be a better option. If you have problems with some particular subject, it’s better to find a tutor online, which can be more expensive than Brainly subscription, but obviously more reliable.
