CustomWritings has been on the market since 2005. It’s owned by Writera Limited, a company incorporated in Cyprus with a headquarters in Limassol. However, Writera Limited was registered in 2020, according to another page on the website.

You can get writing help with virtually any type of paper at CustomWritings, from a personal statement to a dissertation. For our Custom Writings review, we put ourselves into the customer’s shoes – literally. We placed an order for a five-page essay on virtue ethics in Aristotle’s body of work with a deadline of 14 days. We also investigated the multiple reviews on SiteJabber and social media and read the legalese concerning the company’s policies on revisions and other services.

While customwritings.com reviews are fairly good, we can’t help but wonder how it managed to earn such a high rating. The ordering process is quite convoluted, and CustomWritings doesn’t shy away from charging customers extra for things like better language level and paper quality. Those fees quickly inflate the total order cost, making for a nasty surprise at checkout.

When it comes to other platforms we reviewed, things like these often make people ask questions like “Is Nerdify legit?” We asked ourselves a similar question after walking in the customer’s shoes on CustomWritings.

Our five-page essay on virtue ethics was underwhelming, to say the least. Since we opted for the barebones order without extra fees, it was clear that the essay was written by an ESL writer with barely passable English. The essay had multiple grammar mistakes. On top of that, there were weird turns of phrase that occur when you translate an expression from your native language word by word instead of finding its equivalent.

The essay was also hardly well-researched. It barely scratched the surface of what virtue ethics is and what Aristotle’s take on it was. The citations were few – and they were formatted using the outdated version of the MLA guidelines.

All in all, we got an essay that we wouldn’t have been able to submit as-is. So, if you’re looking for a good price-quality ratio, CustomWritings is not for you.

CustomWritings is one of the rare services that you can reach by phone. Its line is toll-free for US and Canadian callers. However, phone support is only available from Monday 00:00 AM to Saturday 08:00 PM (UTC). So, if you need urgent help on Sunday, you’ll have to make do without it.

If you’re not one for making calls, you can always opt for the live chat to reach CustomWritings customer service. However, it also works only from Monday 00:00 AM to Saturday 08:00 PM (UTC). That makes the claim of “24/7 customer support” on the homepage a bit misleading.

Alternatively, you can also drop a line to CustomWritings using Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp.

We decided to reach out to customer support via the live chat. The question we answered was basic: “What payment methods do you accept?” We received an answer almost instantly; however, it didn’t track with what we saw on the checkout page.

The customer support rep told us we could pay with Solid (it’s a payment gateway, not a method) and Apple Pay (which also didn’t make sense).

So, all in all, CustomWritings support may respond promptly, but it’s not exactly helpful.

Here’s another bad surprise in the ordering process: you can’t browse available writers before you pay for your order. So, if it’s your first time and you’d like to have some peace of mind that you’ll find a suitable writer, tough luck!

Begrudgingly, we went in blind for our customwritings com review. And it turned out we couldn’t select the writer at all! CustomWritings automatically assigns you the “most suitable” writer after you pay.

While it can be less overwhelming for first-time customers, this approach also takes away control from you. You can’t ensure that your expert is one of the best on the platform.

In general, CustomWritings is relatively open about its hiring policies. The service’s 500+ writers are from all over the world, from the US and Canada to Europe, Asia, and Africa. Some are ESL writers, while others are native speakers. However, their other qualifications remain a mystery.

Once we received our essay, we knew immediately we’d need to request some revisions. We spotted multiple grammar and punctuation mistakes and unnatural turns of phrases.

To ask for a revision, you’ll need to fill out yet another form from your account. That’s not exactly user-friendly, in our opinion. CustomWritings allows for free revisions only within the first seven days following the order delivery.

For our customwritings.com review, we asked the writer to fix the mistakes and expand the paragraph on continence and incontinence in Aristotle’s works.

While edits concerning mistakes were introduced promptly, the ones concerning the content resulted in an unpleasant response. CustomWritings claimed that the writer met our initial requirements, so this edit wouldn’t be made for free!

This is CustomWritings’ policy: you can’t request free edits if the writer meets all the “primary requirements.” To us, it seems like CustomWritings is looking for any excuse to charge you more – this time, for edits.

First, let’s break down how deadlines work at CustomWritings. When you fill out the form, you’re asked to select the due date. Then, you can select either the deadline on or close to the due date – or the recommended deadline.

It’s a helpful system, in theory: it reminds customers that they will need some time for revisions. However, we couldn’t quite pinpoint how both deadlines were calculated. They changed randomly from 7 days before the due date to 8 or 6 days. Ultimately, it’s confusing.

Now, is this essay writing platform reliable when it comes to sticking to deadlines? It seems to be. We received our essay on time, for one. We couldn’t unearth any scathing reviews that mentioned late delivery, either.

Now, what about CustomWritings plagiarism? Should you expect a 100% original paper? While the website wants you to believe so, the platform doesn’t offer a plagiarism report for free or even for a fee. So, you can’t know whether CustomWritings made good on its promise to double-check for plagiarism and format all citations properly.

The lack of a plagiarism report meant we had no benchmark to compare our results against. We even checked the Terms and Conditions, along with the Plagiarism-Free Guarantee page. (Those typically contain a disclaimer like “we allow for up to 10% of plagiarism”.)

When we ran a check on the essay we got, our preferred tool showed 8% plagiarism. That’s not too bad, all things considered. However, we suspect that this surprisingly good result was because of the poor English skills of the writer.

So, is customwritings.com a good service? We’re inclined to say it’s not. Compared to other platforms we’ve reviewed and deemed reliable, CustomWritings comes with a way-too-convoluted cost structure, surprise fees, and subpar paper quality.

Besides that, CustomWritings doesn’t provide a plagiarism report and doesn’t allow you to select your helper. Combine that with relatively high prices, and we can’t in good conscience call it a platform with a decent price-quality ratio. So, steer away from CustomWritings – there are plenty of better services you can choose from.
