Your Introduction to Transtutors
Transtutors is rated 3.5/5 based on 429 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with the service. Positive Transtutors reviews cite good grades, assignment help, and quality work. Transtutors ranks 30th among Tutoring websites on Sitejabber.
However, take positive Sitejabber reviews for Transtutors with a grain of salt. The platform warns you that Transtutors is reported to offer gifts for reviews right at the top of the page:
Now, what is Transtutors, exactly? Transtutors is a tutoring platform offering access to experts in computer science, accounting, economics, engineering, and more. It also provides its subscribers access to a database with previously asked questions and provided answers.
How does Transtutors work, you may wonder? Well, you fill out the form: it asks you to add your email address, select the discipline, and enter your question, along with a deadline. Then, you must either pay the subscription fee or enter how much you’re willing to pay your helper – and wait for an expert to answer your question.
And yes, according to customer support, the question can involve writing an essay.
You can also schedule a one-on-one tutoring session with experts in AP calculus and linear programming.
Transtutors: Our Experience
After browsing the website and reading online reviews, we contacted customer support via live chat. We wanted to get an answer to our burning question: Is Transtutors a real tutoring service or an essay writing platform posing as one? (We’ve encountered plenty of websites that present themselves as the latter.)
And lo and behold, after a bit of back-and-forth, we were asked to provide the guidelines for the assignment. So, we ended up requesting a five-page college essay on the benefits and drawbacks of oligopoly for a supposed economics class. We also attached the grading rubric.
However, what we received was not an essay in any shape or form.
Overall, we’d advise you to steer away from Transtutors. Even if you look past its confusing and opaque pricing and a limited number of disciplines (currently nine), the response quality leaves much to be desired.
Furthermore, Transtutors reviews we could find online are full of horror stories. Common ones include terrible answer quality, getting charged for the supposedly free trial, and the inability to cancel the subscription.
Is Transtutors Good Value for Your Money?
Despite the platform’s seeming willingness to take on an essay writing order, we did not receive an essay. Instead, it was a simple list of the benefits and drawbacks of oligopoly, with short explanations for each. There were no citations, formatting, or title page. Instead of five pages, we got maybe one.
That said, the answer's price clued us to what we should expect: no essay could cost $10. So, at the very least, we didn’t feel completely deceived.
We were underwhelmed with the quality of the response. Apart from not meeting any academic standards, it was also hardly engaging to read. On top of that, it included information that wasn’t exactly pertinent to the question, like the definitions of other types of market structures (monopoly, etc.).
At least, we weren’t the only ones disappointed with the quality of the answers, as customer reviews on SItejabber showed us. Here’s another customer who called Transtutors out on adding irrelevant information to the answer, for example:
This customer also was dissatisfied with the answer quality:
Even if you don’t expect a full-grade academic paper from Transtutors, it’s not great value for the money.
How Transtutors’ Customer Support Fares
Let’s start with available customer support channels. If you want to contact Transtutors, the 24/7 live chat is probably your best option. In our experience, we connected with a rep within two minutes, which was a plus.
As for our experience with customer support, the first message from Transtutors was rather confusing. We asked about the possibility of getting a college essay without entering our email address into the optional field. The rep responded with a request to… share our email address, which was bizarre. However, after we didn’t, Cora – the agent – proceeded with asking us to share the assignment:
Besides the first hiccup, Cora was helpful – even if too straightforward.
For other customer support channels, you can also fill out a contact form on a dedicated page if you prefer – or send an email to [email protected] or [email protected]. Finally, you can contact Transtutors by phone. The company has three phone numbers for its customers in the U.S., Australia, and India.
Who Are the Experts Behind Transtutors?
We wish we could tell you, but Transtutors doesn’t disclose how it selects experts for its platform – or whether there’s any vetting process. So, there’s no way to know whether your.
Transtutors expert even has what it takes to call themselves an expert. Transtutors only states that it can connect you with 500+ tutors across nine disciplines. That’s all the information it will give you about its tutor pool.
Don’t expect to see comprehensive tutor profiles at Transtutors, either. The platform offers virtually no information on their skills or credentials. Even though, at some point, Transtutors promises answers from PhD experts, there’s no way to verify the tutor’s academic credentials:
Our order only reinforced our doubts regarding Transtutors experts' credentials. We thought the helper was not even a native English speaker, let alone an economics expert.
Is Transtutors Affordable? Pricing & Discounts Overview
Let’s address the elephant in the room: Is Transtutors free? The answer is “no”. So, how much does Transtutors cost? Well, it's… complicated.
At first glance, Transtutors operates on a subscription model. To access its database of questions and answers, you can choose to pay $19.99/month. This plan also allows you to ask three free questions a month.
Alternatively, you can choose the $9.99/week plan, but it doesn’t include the free questions:
If you try to post your question without paying the subscription fee first, you’ll see this baffling pop-up:
Yes, that’s right – you choose how much you will pay your helper for their services. That’s a first for us: we’ve never encountered a similar pricing system. But even though we went with the default $25.00, the price ended up being $10:
However, there’s no explanation on how Transtutors comes up with the price. There's no pricing table based on the question’s complexity or urgency. While on paper, there is a free seven-day trial, customers report getting charged the full subscription fee immediately:
As for discounts, you can get 10% off with the promo code SOLVE10:
What About Revisions?
The service’s willingness to work with revision requests is a good sign. So, is Transtutors safe in that regard? On the surface, yes. But let’s dig deeper than that.
By default, you’re presumed to accept the answer to your question. If you want it revised in any way, you must message your helper within 15 days of getting the initial answer.
On top of that, there’s a chance your Transtutors expert won’t even answer your revision request. This scenario is covered in the Terms and Conditions, stating that you'll get access to answers to similar questions if you don’t get an answer within 48 hours. You’ll be entitled only to a partial refund in that case:
That's what happened in our case when we tried to point out that our answer was hardly academic writing and that we needed some sources. Our request remained ignored.
How Fast Can You Get Help?
The default deadline at Transtutors is six hours, and the service allows you to select an even shorter one. That said, Transtutors promises to respond to your question within 48 hours – no more, no less. (Talk about mixed messages.)
There’s also a chance you won’t get an answer from tutors, as some online reviews described. In this case, you’re not even entitled to a full refund, much like with revisions – only a partial one.
But does Transtutors provide help on time? All in all, yes. We got our response on time and couldn’t find any reviews mentioning missed deadlines, either. However, considering the many other drawbacks of Transtutors, we’re not certain that timely delivery is a big enough advantage to outweigh them all.
Does Transtutors Plagiarize?
Transtutors promises “plagiarism-free solutions,” but plenty of Transtutors complaints accuse the platform of submitting plagiarized answers. So, we decided to run our answers through two plagiarism checkers.
One tool returned a 14% plagiarism rate, while the other showed a 13%. Although it’s not a complete disaster, we’re not certain the answer should be called plagiarism-free, either.
In addition, if you need an original answer, access to the Transtutors database of questions and answers is worthless. This raises questions about why Transtutors is pushing it as one of its core features.
Finally, we decided to check the answer for AI content. Luckily for Transtutors, both ZeroGPT and Copyleaks showed that our answer was likely written by a human. However, considering its quality, we were slightly surprised by the AI scans’ results.
To Sum Up: Transtutors Pros & Cons
All in all, Transtutors comes with too many red flags – and plain drawbacks. Apart from the numerous negative customer reviews accusing Transtutors of being a scam, the answer quality doesn’t match up even with its relatively low pricing.
Combine that with high plagiarism rates, opaque pricing, and a rather confusing ordering process, and you’ll understand why we can’t recommend this service in good conscience.
Your Questions, Answered
Is Transtutors legit as an academic help service?
There seems to be a legitimate business behind the website, with offices in India, Australia, and the United States. While the Terms and Conditions don’t reveal the company’s name, the footer mentions Learnify Technologies Private Limited—it’s a safe bet to assume this is the owner of the platform.
Does Transtutors scam its customers?
In our opinion, it falls just a bit short of being a full-fledged scam. With its opaque (and confusing) pricing, incomprehensible ordering process, and low service quality, we couldn’t help but feel we were getting ripped off.
Is Transtutors free?
No. You can either pay a monthly subscription fee to get three free answers per month or pay for each question individually. Transtutors offers a seven-day free trial for its paid subscription plan (although some customers report getting debited for it). Either way, Transtutors isn’t a free service.
Is Transtutors good value for the money?
We’re inclined to say no. The pricing is opaque, for one. The answer quality hardly matches the price tag, although it’s relatively low. In our experience, there are better services on the market if you need academic help.
Does Transtutors offer a free trial?
In theory, yes. Transtutors claims to offer a seven-day free trial for its subscription plan. However, multiple customers report getting charged the full subscription fee for the supposedly free trial. They also say canceling the subscription turns out to be unnecessarily complicated.
Who are Transtutors’ experts?
We have no idea. Transtutors only states it can connect you with 500+ experts across nine disciplines. However, it’s unclear what their credentials are and whether they have any tutoring experience. Transtutors doesn’t provide any information about individual tutors’ skills, either.
