Should You Give It a Try?

Based on 173 comments on various review aggregators, GeeklyHub has a rating of 3.0 stars, meaning many users are satisfied. However, reviewers also mention the service’s unresponsiveness, subpar quality, and problems with refunds. With a score of 3.0 out of 5.0, GeeklyHub barely misses the top 50 custom writing services.

How good is GeeklyHub at what it promises? Well, positive comments on review aggregators hail the service as “effective,” “excellent,” and “highly recommended.” If you check the negative reviews, you may learn that the service is far from being effective not only in essay writing, which interests us the most, but in other things it offers as well.

The negative comments cite failed exams, denied refunds, and poorly written papers. Intrigued, we decided to investigate the service that disappointed customers often call a complete waste of money. So, fasten your seatbelts; it’s going to be a rocky flight.

When you open the website of GeeklyHub, you are welcomed by a strange text: “Got stuck with study workload? We all have the same 24/7. Make the most out of your study time.”

Maybe it’s just us, but we don’t see any offers of finding the solution to getting stuck with your study workload. It looks more like this: Got stuck with your study chores? Join our club; let’s get stuck together! 

Anyway, GeeklyHub reviews suggest that using the service is getting stuck with your study workload and then emailing back and forth demanding a refund.

When it comes to other platforms we reviewed, things like these often make people ask questions like “Is Nerdify legit?” We asked ourselves a similar question after walking in the customer’s shoes on GeeklyHub.

The service promises to match students like you with geeks, so the homework, exam preparation, and writing chores are done faster. “Who are the geeks?” you may ask. They are independent tutors and enthusiastic educators from around the world.

That sounds quite suggestive at first glance. But if you decide to take a picky look even at the website’s main page, you may find several alarming inconsistencies. You may also notice typos and errors that suggest you won’t get custom writing help from native speakers. Yet, we are running a bit ahead of ourselves here.

The website is full of various promises; for instance, you're going to nail your academic year if you sign up for the service.

There’s a field showing how many geeks are online right now. Strangely, whenever you enter the site, there are always 166 of them. There are even testimonials from past customers. And here, we can run into several problems. Ho Ji-Tae’s review contains a rather strange sentence: “Those who major in Sociology know how problematic it is to create a survey that people will bother to compete.” Indeed, why would anyone bother to COMPETE a survey?

Things are even more interesting with Katherine H. Kreps, who is presented to us as an HR Manager at Archstone Consulting LLC. If you Google “Archstone Consulting LLC,” you can find several companies with names like that, neither of which has a website. Or it’s one company with different sources giving different information on it. Yet, regardless of which source you’re checking, you won’t find any Katherine H. Kreps in any relation to Archstone Consulting LLC. We are not online sleuths or something, but it seems that the testimonials on GeeklyHub not only have stock photos attached to them but stock characters as well.  

It seems that you have 166 stock writers who are constantly online to help you ‒ stock characters with stock testimonials that contain either typos or weird word choices. Speaking of weird word choices, take a glimpse at one of the FAQs on the GeeklyHub website:

Not only is your money deposited “on” your account, but “you can in full in advance if you wish so.”

All in all, it doesn’t seem that you’re going to nail your academic year with this service.

Based on the oldest reviews that we were able to find, Geekly Hub was launched sometime in 2019. And here’s a funny thing. When essay writing services started transitioning online, the internet wasn’t that widespread. The tech capabilities were a far cry from what we have today, and most services opted to provide communication with a support team either via telephone or by email.

Nowadays, things are different. Most users opt for a live chat when it comes to reaching out to a customer support team. Looking for a live chat on GeeklyHub? You won’t find it here. You won’t find a phone number, either.

Yes, you guessed it correctly: the only option to get in touch with GeeklyHub’s customer support team is via email. And that is weird. It would’ve been weird even if the platform was launched in 1999 instead of 2019, as almost nothing can survive that long without adapting to the ever-changing online market.

Well, who knows; maybe if the service hangs around long enough, it will add a phone line and a live chat. As of now, you can expect communication via email only. We’re going to expand on our communication with the support team in later sections, but we can assure you that you shouldn’t expect a timely reply.

Before we go on about collaborating with Geekly writers, we need to go back to the FAQ section. One of the answers clearly states that Geeks will merely help you find the necessary materials but won’t do your writing tasks for you.

However, that capture from GeeklyHub’s FAQ is yet another misinformation. If you need a task and are ready to pay for its completion, geeks will forget about the strict rules of the service.

We ordered a seven-page essay on monster parents on screen, in literature, and in real life. We specified that the essay should expand on Norma Bates from Robert Bloch’s novel “Psycho” and Alfred Hitchcock’s adaptation of it. It should also include the portrayal of Joan Crawford in the book and movie “Mommie Dearest.” We also asked the writer to expand on the real cases of Andrea Yates and Marion Zimmer Bradley.

You can place your bets on how good the delivered essay was, and we will expand on the results in the next sections.

The price that this GeeklyHub offers is $22 per hour. The per-hour price makes it rather difficult to figure out how much you’re going to pay in the end, as, after all, you don’t really know how much time the process of writing your essay is going to take.

Given the fact that our essay required reading several articles and listening to several podcasts, it would’ve taken five to seven hours to prepare for it. But, when you fill in the order form, it turns out that one hour equals one page. However, the deadlines affect the price. If you need a paper today, the per-hour rate doubles.

As for the refund policy, you need to request a refund within sixty days after the completion of an order. And be ready to wait for about a week till the service investigates your request and decides to proceed with refunding your order.

Mind that you request a refund via email, and the service will reply ASAP. We figured out that the service has its unique understanding of ASAP.

When you go through GeeklyHub reviews, you won’t find any complaints regarding the revisions. Why? Because there’s no revision policy. Don’t forget that the service pretends to be a tutoring platform; thus, you can’t request revisions of tutoring help.

Gladly, we studied the website carefully, so we didn’t even bother thinking about a revision. But if there was an option to request a revision, we surely would’ve used it. So, it’s right about time to disclose how great the paper that we’ve received was. To begin with, it was generic and had lots of grammar and spelling errors. But that’s something that you could’ve guessed “in full in advance.”

As for the examples that we asked to expand on… It did expand on Norma Bates, but the source material was surely “Bates Motel” rather than “Psycho.” As for “Mommie Dearest,” the author surely knew that Crawford was one of the biggest stars of Hollywood, but they had no clue “what’s wire hangers doing in this closet.” As for Andrea Yates and Marion Zimmer Bradley, the author decided to ignore them completely. Probably, real-life monster parents were a little bit too much for the generic essay that we were presented with.

Well, here, you won’t find the traditional system of deadlines. As the geeks have a per-hour rate, and an hour equals one page, the deadline is pretty much determined by the number of pages your paper has.

However, even if you opt for a one-page essay, the minimum deadline the service gives is seven hours. At least, that's the option we got when toying with the submission form. Either all the 166 geeks that are constantly online were busy, or the number of geeks online does not match the real situation.

Despite the fact that some GeeklyHub reviews mentioned missing the deadline, that’s not something that we have experienced. We requested an essay to be done within two days, and we got it on time.

But who knows, maybe if we opted for a longer deadline, our geek would’ve googled who Andrea Yates and Marion Zimmer Bradley were and what science fiction and “Desperate Housewives” had to do with them.

By the way, you should mind that a missed deadline is not listed among the reasons for a refund.

Oh, boy, where do we even start? Well, when the paper doesn’t meet our expectations, it’s usually because of one of the two reasons. The first is the lack of originality, as Expert Writing reviews mention, and the second one is superficial research, as StudyBay reviews describe. 

We ran that masterpiece we’ve received through several plagiarism checkers and were amazed. The results varied from one detector to another, but they generally ranged between 19% and 23%.

The funniest point was the sources that were plagiarized:

1. A blog post analyzing Norma Bates, as we’ve initially guessed, as a character of “Bates Motel” rather than “Psycho.”
2. A Wikipedia page on Joan Crawford.

Okay, so the geek managed to open the page on Joan Crawford and didn’t find anything about “Mommie Dearest”? It’s mentioned in the article’s intro!

So, we’ve sent a lovely email to the Geekly Hub support team, describing in detail what exactly left us unsatisfied with the received essay. We’ve even attached screenshots of plagiarism checkers’ reports. At the time of writing, it’s the second day that we’re waiting for the reply from the support service.

Well, it’s rather difficult to pinpoint the positive aspects of GeeklyHub. Some reviews do suggest that the service can be helpful when it comes to tutoring, but if you’re looking for a custom writing service, you should look elsewhere. Here, you will run into an unreachable support team and poorly written papers. And that’s for quite a high price of $22 per page.
