What Is CollegeEssay.org?
CollegeEssay is a service rated 3.1/5 based on 64 reviews on review websites, which indicates that most customers are satisfied. However, users also mention long waiting times for customer service and poor quality of work. CollegeEssay is ranked 61th among essay writing sites, with a score of 3.1 out of 5.0.
Skyscrapers LLC is the company behind CollegeEssay, and the service has offices in the United States and UAE. The service has been in business since 2010.
Positive reviews mention delivery ahead of the deadline, writers’ expertise and professionalism, and thorough research. However, some users criticize the platform for slow customer service response time and plagiarism issues.
Of course, we couldn’t pass up on testing this service. To write this review, we’ve done our due diligence in reading the fine print on CollegeEssay’s website and analyzing its policies and practices. We also put ourselves into the customer’s shoes by placing a five-page expository essay order on the origins of nihilism.
CollegeEssay: Our Findings
At the end of our customer journey, we’re inclined to agree with more critical College Essay reviews. That is, we find this service doesn’t quite deserve a five-star rating – but it’s not outright terrible, either.
The essay quality reflected that perfectly: it would warrant a simple B-. While it followed our requirements to the letter, the writer didn’t go the extra mile in her research, and it showed. The essay also failed to mention several concepts central to the creation of nihilism – and it was full of filler phrases.
On top of that, there were a couple of mistakes, so we had to ask for revisions. Although those were introduced relatively fast, it’s a shame we had to ask for them at all.
All in all, while our customer experience wasn’t outstanding – or even great – it wasn’t mediocre, either. CollegeEssay falls under the category of so-so services, like the ones evaluated in the WritePaperForMe review and BBQPapers review. While you won’t get scammed, you won’t get the most bang for your buck.
CollegeEssay: Ordering Process
As always, we kicked off our CollegeEssay.org review by checking out the website itself. CollegeEssay stood out to us with a couple of perks. First, it offers an AI writing tool. Second, you can check out essay samples.
That said, while it seemed comprehensive at first, we found the website copy too generic in some places – and misleading in others. (You won’t get a free plagiarism report, for example.)
As for the ordering process, the order form is fairly intuitive and modern. However, it comes with several caveats:
You need to leave your phone number in addition to the email address. (We’re not fans of this approach for privacy reasons.)
Once you get to the form, you may find out that certain services aren’t free as advertised – most notably, the Turnitin report. Getting a premium expert also costs an extra $6.99 per page.
On the bright side, the payment process is secure, and CollegeEssay uses Stripe, a well-reputed payment gateway, for transaction processing.
It’s also a service dedicated almost exclusively to essay writing, which is a rare bird these days. Apart from essays, CollegeEssay works only with coursework orders. Whether it's a pro or con is up to you.
CollegeEssay: Customer Service Quality
In most cases, negative College Essay feedback mentioned slow customer service response. So, with that in mind, we set out to test how the support team handles customers’ questions and concerns.
You can reach support representatives in a variety of ways: via live chat, by phone, or via email. You can also fill out a contact form on the website to initiate the conversation. CollegeEssay keeps customer service available around the clock, seven days a week.
First, we contacted customer support via live chat with a question about the accepted payment methods. It took around three minutes for a rep to respond – that’s fast enough – and the response was quite detailed. So, live chat support seems to work as intended.
Then, we decided to fill out a contact form describing a problem with using a Discover card to pay for the order. We didn’t hear back from CollegeEssay for two days after we filled out the contact form – an unacceptable delay for such a simple request!
The story repeated itself with email customer support. After not hearing from CollegeEssay within 24 hours, we sent the same request to its email address – and we had to wait three days for a response.
What Can Be Said About the Writers?
Since most positive CollegeEssay.org reviews praise writers, we took an extra closer look at who they are.
CollegeEssay claims to select only writers with three or more years of experience and a Master’s or Ph.D. degree. To the service’s credit, you can browse the writers’ profiles without signing up first, which serves well to build trust.
That said, the profiles could be a bit more descriptive. For example, we’d like to know what Ivy League university Barbara attended and what “several major publications” her work was published in.
There’s also a discrepancy between the website copy and the ordering process when it comes to writers’ experience. When you fill out the order form, you can choose the “Best Available” writer who has one to two years of experience in the chosen subject.
On top of that, you can’t choose your writer – they get automatically assigned to the order after you complete the initial payment.
CollegeEssay’s Pricing Policy
CollegeEssay’s per-page rates start at:
- $11/page for high school assignments;
- $14/page for college and university assignments;
- $17/page for Master’s and MBA assignments;
- $30/page for PhD assignments.
For our College Essay review, we opted for an eight-day deadline for our college-level essay. This meant our total cost amounted to $70.
At CollegeEssay, you can either pay the whole sum in one go or opt for a two-part payment. If you choose the latter, you pay 50% upfront and complete the payment after you get the order at no extra cost.
As for the free services, CollegeEssay does promise a free title page, formatting, proofreading, outline, Turnitin report revisions, and bibliography. However, the text on the homepage is misleading. The Turnitin report isn’t free at all: it’d cost us an extra $9.99. Proofreading would also add $14.99 to the order cost, and the outline would cost another $14.99.
How CollegeEssay Handles Revisions
The platform offers unlimited free revisions as long as you request them within 14 days of receiving your order. Of course, your revisions should align with the initial requirements. If the revision contradicts the initial order description or constitutes a new requirement, CollegeEssay reserves the right to refuse to make a revision.
In our case, we had to ask for edits to our essay on nihilism that we ordered for this CollegeEssay.org review. It had two mistakes: the text misattributed one quote to the wrong source and misspelled the name of Nietzsche’s work.
So, we asked our writer to fix those mistakes. Revisions were completed within three hours, which is fast enough. However, it’s a shame we had to request them in the first place. In our opinion, such mistakes shouldn't be present in an essay that costs $70.
Does CollegeEssay Stick to Deadlines?
CollegeEssay vows to meet every deadline – if it fails to do so, you’re entitled to a refund, according to one of its guarantees. However, once we dug deeper and read the company’s Refunds and Cancellations policy, the compensation terms only confused us.
According to the policy, CollegeEssay will provide a Time Delivery Difference Compensation if you claim it in the case of a missed deadline. And the words ‘full refund’ don’t appear anywhere. Instead, the policy states the compensation will be calculated based on the delay time and initial deadline.
For better or worse, we couldn’t test this peculiarity of the refund policy: our order was delivered a bit ahead of time. We opted for an eight-day deadline, and we received our expository essay almost two hours in advance.
We like this tendency of timely submissions, confirmed by our team in these My Super Geek reviews, CustomWritings reviews, and Paper24 reviews. And we hope it lasts.
How CollegeEssay Fares in Paper Originality
CollegeEssay is a rare beast among essay writing services: it guarantees a 0% plagiarism rate for all of its papers. Most services keep the originality rate under 10% since it’s virtually impossible to achieve 0%: common phrases will always get highlighted as plagiarism.
The terms and conditions don’t shed light on the 0% plagiarism definition, and neither does the Refunds and Cancellations policy. It only states you can request a refund on the grounds of plagiarism only if you provide a Turnitin report to prove it.
As for the essay we ordered for our College Essay review, we ran two plagiarism checks on it. Needless to say, the results weren’t as perfect as the unattainable 0%. However, they were still in line with common academic standards: one check showed a 5% plagiarism rate, and the other one – 7%.
To Sum Up: CollegeEssay Pros & Cons
So, should you entrust CollegeEssay with your essay when you need help? Well, in our opinion, it’s not the worst service out there – but it’s not the best one, either. You can find a better price-quality ratio elsewhere – and avoid all the extra fees for the Turnitin reports, outline, and proofreading.
To substantiate our opinion, we made this list of pros and cons – so that you can judge for yourself.
